Brooks in Legislation

House Majority Floor Leader Steven Rudy, R-Paducah, and 14-year-old Frankfort teen Brooks Young recently shared a moment of levity with the Senate Transportation Committee during Wednesday's meeting at the Capitol. They are advocating for lowering the age at which teens can obtain their driver's permit from 16 to 15.

The proposed legislation, sponsored by House Majority Floor Leader Steven Rudy, R-Paducah, would enable teens to be eligible for an intermediate permit at 16, provided they pass the driver’s test and complete at least six months of training. At 17, they would then be eligible for a full operator’s license after holding their intermediate permit for 180 days.

We are so proud of Brooks' passion and advocacy. Our students are LEADERS.
