Research shows that youth engaged in one-on-one mentoring for 12 months or longer experience significant improvements in self-esteem, academic performance, relationships with parents, and social skills. They are also less likely to skip school, use illegal drugs, or engage in aggressive behavior.
According to Dr. Herman E. Walston, Principal Investigator of Mentoring Programs at Kentucky State University, “The power of mentoring creates a unique opportunity for collaboration, goal achievement, and real-world problem solving.”
